Learning how to develop and improve emotional intelligence (EI) can be a daunting task, yet it is an increasingly important skill. Exercising EI can be key to forming and maintaining relationships with others, as well as developing and nurturing a sense of our own selves. The ability to emotionally understand and appropriately respond to people we
interact with is a lifelong skill.
Throughout the Develop Emotional Intelligence short course, students will come to understand how to manage emotions, to work more effectively with others, and how to interpret emotional patterns, along with many other skills.
Specifically, this course will focus on learning the key skills of emotional intelligence. These skills being self-awareness, self-management, empathy, relationship management, and effective communication. This course will also focus on building your knowledge around EI and its effects on yourself and others around you.
Students need to attend 75% of the course to be eligible to receive a Certificate of Achievement on the final day.
Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. Emotional intelligence is generally said to include a few skills: namely emotional awareness, or the ability to identify and name one’s own emotions; the ability to harness those emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving; and the ability to manage emotions, which includes both regulating one’s own emotions when necessary and helping others to do the same. – Source psychologytoday.com
