HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

This course First Aid for Educators (Provide First Aid in an education and care setting) applies ONLY to educators and support staff working within an early education and child care setting, who are required to respond to first aid emergencies, asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. Students will be assessed on a combination of practical activities and on the completion of the workbook theory component.

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency: HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education Care Setting, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

To ensure your certificate remains current, you will need to take the CPR refresher every twelve months and re-take the HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education Care Setting course every three years.

This HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is inclusive of:

  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

This course covers the following:

  • CPR
  • Allergic Reactions
  • Bleeding control
  • Choking and airway obstruction
  • Fractures, Sprains and strains,
  • using a arm sling, roller bandages or other appropriate immobilisation techniques.
  • Respiratory distress
  • Asthma
  • Shock Management
  • Bites and Stings
  • anaphylaxis & more

Paul’s industry experience, which includes developing and facilitating state wide nationally recognised training to working with clients to create emergency management plans, ensures he provides his students with the most relevant and up to date training.
