The HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy is a Nationally Recognised Unit and deals with the provision of Advanced First Aid resuscitation techniques, life support, and management of casualty(s) until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation and oxygen therapy in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to persons who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

Objectives: To enable the operation of an automated external defibrillator and administration of oxygen for therapy and resuscitation that will enable a life to be sustained until professional help arrives.

Course Content:

  • The legal issues of providing First Aid
  • Management of unconscious non-breathing casualty
  • Perform CPR
  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • Oxygen Administration for therapy and resuscitation
  • Infection control

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency: HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy.
